Co-Teaching is an evidence based learning support practice that maximizes the number of students supported, supports students in their classroom and is the only one known to help provide more than a year worth of growth in less than a year when it is done correctly. Co-Teaching has been a service delivery option for a long time but because of the way it was set up and presented, there was never enough time for teachers to plan appropriately for it to be effective or work. The “Co-teaching That Works” framework by Anne Benninghof shows school staff how the intervention can be effective without a copious amount of planning, how it focuses on students and their programming, encourages active engagement, and how learning support teams determine which students/classes will get recommended for support and intervention and for how long that support will take place.
